SCOTLAND left-back Stephen Crainey has arrived at Latics on a free transder.
The 32-year-old becomes Owen Coyle’s second signing as the former Bolton and Burnley boss looks to reinforce Latics’ defence for their promotion push.
Crainey, who has signed a one-year deal, will link up with his new team-mates in time for the start of Wigan’s pre-season training schedule next week after coming through a medical yesterday.
Latics are also hoping to announce the capture of Celtic’s Thomas Rogne in the next few days.
Arriving from Blackpool, Glaswegian Crainey can’t wait to face Latics’ daunting campaign.
“The Championship is a gruelling division, with tough games every week but that and the chance to play European football is a challenge I’m really looking forward to,” said Crainey.
