JORDAN Flores admits he had to pinch himself after finding the net on his full league debut for Wigan Athletic to check he wasn’t dreaming.

The 19-year-old from Aspull was thrust into the starting line-up for the first time after injuries ruled out Haris Vuckic, Craig Davies and Will

And Flores rose to the occasion in some style, scoring Wigan’s opening goal in the 2-1 victory over Fleetwood in a man-of-the-match display.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling,” he admitted after the game.

“I always dreamt of that as a kid...on Friday night I was dreaming what I’d do if the ball dropped at my feet like that.

“I can’t describe how it felt to see the ball hit the back of the net.

“It was just a really, really good feeling.

“I know a lot of people who would have been in the crowd, and it’s just good to have done them proud.”

Flores matched the achievements of close pal Tim Chow, who made a similar splash on his own league debut last term, when he scored the opener in a 2-1 win over Brighton.

Having watched Chow establish himself in the first team set-up, Flores is keen to follow in his footsteps.

“Tim’s a great lad, he’s good to be around,” acknowledged Flores.

“I’m happy for what he’s achieved, and thankfully I

got my chance today and took it.

“There’s a quite a few Wiganers in the youth teams and the Development Squad who are not far off.

“It’s just a good feeling at the club at the moment.”

Not that the new star will be taking anything for granted.

“I’m not expecting anything,” he added.

“I just want to keep working hard in training, and hopefully I’ll get another chance.”
