GARY Caldwell has confirmed that Chris Eagles has been training with Wigan Athletic but it’s unlikely he will sign for the club “at this moment in time”.
The midfielder – who has scored against Latics for both Bolton and Charlton – lives locally and is without a club after being released by the Addicks last season.
But Caldwell says there is no deal on the table for the 29-year-old, who came through the ranks at Manchester United.
“Chris is someone who lives locally and he’s just been in for training,” said the Latics boss.
“We’ve given him that opportunity to keep fit, and he’s done very well here.
“It’s just training at the minute, though. It’s not something we’re really looking into at this moment in time.”
If Eagles was to sign, he would become the sixth ex-Bolton player to arrive at the DW Stadium this season after Sanmi Odelusi, Kevin McNaughton, Craig Davies, Jussi Jääskeläinen and Andy Kellett.
