A CRACKING goal from Franco di Santo and a superhuman injury-time clearance by Maynor Figueroa helped Latics to a deserved point in West London.
Latics have a wretched recent record against the Cottagers, and it looked like that was set to continue when Giorgos Karagounis was afforded time and space to fire in off the post midway through the first half.
But Latics raised their game in the second half and were rewarded when Di Santo cut in from the left-hand side and smacked an absolute beauty past Mark Schwarzer into the top corner.
The Fulham goalkeeper had earlier denied Shaun Maloney with a stupendous save, tipping the Scot’s shot on to the bar when it looked destined for the back of the net.
Latics had chances to win it in the final quarter, but were almost left with nothing at the death when Bryan Ruiz took advantage of a mistake by Ronnie Stam and fired past Al Habsi.
But, out of nowhere, Figueroa somehow got back to head the ball off the line with a manoevre that almost defied gravity.
