ROBERTO Martinez admits the return of Hugo Rodallega this weekend could not have been more timely for Wigan Athletic.
The Colombian hitman has served a three-match suspension for his red card at Manchester United last month, and will go straight back into the side for Saturday’s trip to Everton.
“It’s a massive boost to have Hugo available again,” Martinez told the Observer.
“From a mental point of view you couldn’t get anyone with more of a desire to get out there.
“It’s been so frustrating for him, and in many ways a learning process for him.
“I’m sure he’s learned his lesson from what happened and he’s desperate to make amends on Saturday.”
Rodallega’s availability is a welcome boost for Martinez, who is waiting to hear the extent of Franco di Santo’s ankle damage.
Di Santo has been playing through the pain barrier since damaging the joint at Newcastle in October, but the Wigan manager has decided enough is enough and is determined to get to the root of the problem.
“Franco saw the specialist in London yesterday, but at the moment we haven’t got the full diagnosis,” Martinez added.
“It’s a worry because it could be two or three different things, but we’re desperate to know for certain so we can start his recovery.”
