OWEN Coyle believes the chance to play some of the top teams in the world in the next round of the Europa League will be a huge incentive for his players when they face Zulte Waregem tonight.

A win could potentially see Latics through to the next round of the competition, depending on the result of the game between Rubin Kazan and NK Maribor, which kicks off at 5pm.

Despite that game though, the Wigan boss says his team will be fully focused on beating the Belgian side.

“The incentive is there for everybody,” said Coyle. “Not only ourselves but Zulte Waregem.

“It could be a Milan, an Ajax, a Napoli, there are some fantastic teams that are going to come out of the Champions League into the knockout draws, never mind the quality that is already in the Europa League. For us to be able to reach that 32 would be a great achievement but having said that, we’re going to have to go and earn it.

“This is a very good side, very attacking minded and some very good players but the group of players we have are a credit to themselves and a joy to work with on a daily basis.

“The players, the way with the world wide contacts are, they’ll certainly know the outcome of the (earlier) game.

“Regardless of what that result is though, our destiny is in our own hands.”
