UWE Rosler is urging Latics fans not to be drawn into comparing William Kvist to the departed James McArthur.

The Danish international, who will represent his country against Albania tomorrow, was seen as a direct replacement for the Scot who joined Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day.

Kvist has played in five out of the six games since he signed and his manager has been impressed with what he’s seen so far.

“We should not compare him with James McArthur because they are different types of players,” warned Rosler.

“William brings his strength and qualities into the team and I think he has to be judged for the player he is, and not comparing him with James.

“He had eight games of Premier League football (last season for Fulham) but that is completely different from Championship football as we know.

“When you come from Denmark and you know Danish football, it is completely different from Championship football.

“It is based on possession and the general tempo in the league and the national team is much lower.”

Despite being pleased with Kvist’s contribution so far, Rosler says there is much more to come from him.

He also praised the Dane’s willingness to learn and adapt.

“Kvist is an intelligent player who has the experience of being abroad,” added Rosler.
