Wigan Athletic have released a statement regarding manager Warren Joyce.
The statement reads: “Warren underwent surgery on Tuesday for a minor procedure which needed immediate attention.
“At this stage, unless he chooses to talk about it, we feel it’s right to keep the details confidential.
“He is recovering well and won’t be taking training today (Friday).
“At the moment, the plan is for him to come to the game tomorrow (Saturday) but we don’t know yet what exactly his involvement will be - that depends upon him.
“In the meantime, Graham Barrow and Andy Welsh will be in temporary charge of the team, but will be communicating with Warren as regards team selection and tactics.
“How quickly he comes to full time training will depend on his recovery.”
Barrow, the Latics assistant manager, took media duties on Friday morning, and said: “I’ve spoken to Warren this morning. I can’t go into too much detail, but it’s as serious as any health issue can be.”
