NEW-boy Craig Morgan admits the tough slog of pre-season is a necessary evil if Wigan Athletic are to achieve their goals next term.
The majority of the squad was back in pre-season training yesterday in preparation for the big kick-off at Coventry six weeks tomorrow.
“It was a good first day, the boys are a welcoming bunch and it was good to get going,” Morgan told the Evening Post.
“It’s all about getting some fitness under our belts for the new season, and it’s just good to get out there on the grass.
“I think anyone who says they enjoy pre-season training is lying, but you do your best and work as hard as you can.
“That’s all any manager can ask, and that’s what we’ve all been doing.”
Morgan was one of three new players at Christopher Park, along with Richard O’Donnell and David Perkins.
They should soon be joined by Max Power, with Latics believed to be closing in on the signature of the in-demand Tranmere midfielder.
