Shaun Maloney’s proposed move to Leicester City has collapsed.
Malky Mackay revealed the shock development.
Scotland international Maloney is back in training with Latics today and in the frame for tomorrow’s crunch home game against Blackburn.
Wigan had agreed a fee with the Premier League strugglers, thought to be in the region of £1million, but Mackay said personal terms could not be agreed.
The Latics boss said he was happy to have Maloney back.
He said: “Interest was from Leicester and there’s still interest from Chicago Fire. Shaun’s our player unless a new offer comes in.”
Meanwhile, he added that defender Ivan Ramis has been ruled out for a month due to injury. Midfielder Don Cowie has also been sidelined.
