ROBERTO Martinez will be STAYING at Wigan Athletic.
The Spaniard met with Dave Whelan earlier today and told him he will remain in his position, it is also believed he has been offered a new deal with Wigan.
It rules out a possible move to Aston Villa, who Whelan gave permission to to speak to the Spaniard.
But Martinez has remained loyal to the club and the man who gave him his first break as a player in English football back in 1995.
Whelan had declared his belief earlier in the week that if Martinez stayed for another year at Latics, a top European club would come knocking.
A statement from Aston Villa read: “Roberto met with his chairman earlier this week and has made the decision to honour his commitment at Wigan.”
