ROBERTO Martinez has called on Wigan Athletic to emerge victorious in the ‘eight-game shoot-out’ that will decide their Premier League fate.
Latics stand just one point from safety after the victory at Liverpool ahead of the visit of mid-table Stoke.
“Nobody can predict how many points we’ll need – but it’s going to be an eight-game shoot-out between the teams at the bottom,” Martinez told the Observer. “The support we had against West Brom and Liverpool was exemplary, which affected the performance on the field.
“And if we can replicate that on Saturday we’ll give ourselves a fabulous chance.
“We’re a small club with young players but we have big dreams, and we showed at Anfield we can achieve anything if we want it badly enough.”
Martinez will find out later in the week if Victor Moses will be fit after his knock to the head at Liverpool, although Momo Diame (groin) and Hugo Rodallega (knee) are odds against.
