ROBERTO Martinez has told his side to relax and enjoy all the hullaballoo of Wembley week.
Wigan has been awash with Wembley fever since the 3-0 demolition of Everton in last month’s quarter-final. And that’s been cranked up massively over the last few days as the big days nears.
However, rather than avoid all the hysteria, Martinez is keen for his players to immerse themselves in it – to underline the extent of their achievement.
He also reckons that approach will prevent them being adversely affected by the burden of expectation.
“I just want us to focus on ourselves as we have done in previous rounds,” Martinez told the Evening Post.
“We’ve had to adapt, we’ve had to react to different oppositions and different challenges, and we’ve always found a way to play the game and not the occasion. This one will be exactly the same – but I want the players and the fans to really enjoy the lead-up to the game.”
