ROBERTO Martinez insists the FA Cup is very important to Wigan despite taking an under-strength selection down to Bournemouth.
A second-string Latics side failed to break down the League One side at the DW Stadium. The 1-1 draw forced tonight’s replay at Dean Court with a fourth round tie at Macclesfield up for grabs.
With a vital Premier League encounter against Sunderland looming this Saturday, it is a similar side to the one which drew on January 5.
But the Wigan manager believes that picking some of the same players for the replay doesn’t mean he is taking the competition lightly.
He said: “The FA Cup is a very important tournament for us but it is a tournament where we need to be able to cope with the squad and with the strength in the squad.
“It’s an exciting game to see certain players that have arrived at the club and are starting getting ready to cope with the demands that are needed in this game.”
Should Latics win tonight, tickets for the fourth round tie away at Macclesfield will go on sale at 9am on Thursday to season ticket holders before going on general sale on Monday.
Wigan will receive an allocation of 1,894 tickets for the clash schdeduled for January 26.
There will be 394 tickets for a seated area, priced at £18 for adults, £14 for OAPs, £5 for under-16s and £3 for under-12s. A further 1,500 tickets for the terraced area are priced at £14 for adults, £10 for OAPs, £5 for under-16s and £3 for under-12s.
