JAMES McArthur thinks the experience Latics got from their last Championship campaign will stand them in good stead next season.
The Scotland international believes that the rollercoaster ride the side experienced with the highs and lows puts them in great shape to attack the division next year and win promotion to the Premier League.
“There’s nothing to fear in this league,” he said. “We’ve had a taster of what it’s all about, we know exactly what to expect and we’ll be ready for it next season.”
Wigan experienced many highs and lows last season. There was a dismal run of games which saw them struggle to score on the road before six defeats on the bounce which included Owen Coyle’s dismissal.
Uwe Rosler arrived at the DW Stadium though and made changes for the better. Latics marched on to secure fifth place.
“There were spells in the season when we weren’t picking up as many points as perhaps we would have liked,” admitted McArthur.
“But then we went on that incredible run where we seemed to be winning every week, and that counteracts all that.
“Hopefully we can go a step better next year and go all the way and get promoted. With so many games under our belt, you need to rest when the opportunity presents itself.
“But at the same time you need to make sure you ready to go again because it’ll be a strong pre-season.”
