CALLUM McManaman is fighting to be fit for Saturday’s massive six-pointer against Norwich.
The Wigan star has been an ever-present in the headlines following his challenge on Massadio Haidara during the 2-1 victory over Newcastle nine days ago.
McManaman escaped a ban – which could have ruled him out of the FA Cup semi-final against Millwall on April 13.
But Roberto Martinez has confirmed that the 21-year-old is struggling to shake off the ankle ligament damage that has curtailed his involvement in the last two matches.
“Callum’s been carrying an injury to his ankle, which caused him to be substituted against both Newcastle and Everton,” Martinez admitted.
“Our major concern now is making sure he’s fully fit and able to take to the field against Norwich.
“He hasn’t trained with the rest of the team yet, and the next 48 hours will be crucial.”
