UWE Rosler will have to decide just how much he wants a reunion with Adam Forshaw after having a bid for the Brentford midfielder turned down.

The Latics chief unearthed Forshaw during his time as Brentford manager, bringing him in on loan from Everton in February 2012 before making the deal permanent three months later.

Forshaw quickly restored Rosler’s faith by becoming a mainstay in the Bees midfield, and played a key role in the club winning automatic promotion to the Championship at the end of last term.

Rosler, of course, had moved on to Wigan by then, but is desperate to land Forshaw for the second time in just over two years.

Forshaw’s price tag has certainly increased in that time, on the back of a series of impressive performances that led to him being named the League One player of the year as well as making the fictitious ‘team of the year’.

The Liverpudlian, right, has made a round century of appearances during his time with Brentford, scoring 11 goals in the process.

At the moment the 22-year-old is still recovering from a close-season operation to correct a long-standing ankle problem, although he should be fit for the start of the Championship season on August 9.

Whether he is a Wigan player by then or still at Brentford remains to be seen, with Rosler currently mulling over the situation during the club’s training camp in Germany.

Rosler could certainly do with more bodies in midfield, with an incredible EIGHT players either unavailable or struggling for full fitness.

James McArthur and new-boy Don Cowie played their first football of pre-season against Fortuna Dusseldorf at the weekend, while Roger Espinoza is weeks behind the rest of the squad following his exertions at the World Cup in Brazil with Honduras.

Shaun Maloney (calf) and James McClean (ankle) are currently nursing injuries picked up during pre-season, joining long-term absentees Chris McCann and Ben Watson on the sidelines.

Emyr Huws last week joined Latics on a six-month loan from Manchester City, although he is currently away with the Premier League champions on the tour of the USA.
