Darren Sheridan is the latest big-name signing for the Latics Legends ahead of the massive Joseph’s Goal charity clash against Arjan de Zeeuw’s Dutch Masters at Ashton Town FC on Friday night.
The tough-tackling midfielder has been drafted in to add some bite to an engine room that already contains Michael Brown and Jason Jarrett, who will hopefully pave the way for the ‘Three Amigos’ – Roberto Martinez, Jesus Seba and Isidro Diaz – to work their magic.
The Latics side will once again be skippered by FA Cup-winning captain Emmerson Boyce, with Paul Scharner – another hero from Wembley 2013 – flying in from Austria to play.
Also in the Latics squad are Graeme Jones, Stuart Barlow, Nicky Eaden, Nathan Ellington, Graham Lancashire, Kevin Sharp and Ian Kilford.
Graham Barrow, Peter Atherton and John Doolan - the Latics interim management team at the end of the season - will be combining player-coaching duties.
De Zeeuw’s Dutch side have pulled off a real coup by swooping for ex-Ajax star Angelos Charisteas – who scored the winning goal for Greece against Portugal in the final of Euro 204 – as a ‘ringer’.
Tickets are on sale via www.wiganlatics.co.uk/tickets – by calling 0871 66 33 552, or from the DW, priced just £10 adults/£5 concessions.
All proceeds go to Joseph’s Goal, to fund vital NKH research.
