WIGAN Athletic have completed the signing of Inverness striker Billy Mckay.
The 26-year-old has scored 10 goals in 23 games for the SPL side and new boss Malky Mackay will be hoping he can add some much-needed fire-power to his attack.
Mckay will take up Shaun Maloney’s vacated number 10 shirt.
He becomes Latics’ second signing of the day, following on from defender Jason Pearce.
Both players were signed before the noon deadline and are eligible for the game at Ipswich Town.
Latics manager Mackay said: “We’ve been looking at Billy for some time.
“He lives to score and his record over the past two seasons speaks for itself, where’s he’s scored a lot of goals and been deadly for Inverness.
“He can’t wait to begin the next part of his career and we are delighted to bring him on board, we feel he has the potential to make a great impact at Wigan Athletic, he’s a player who comes alive in the box, a sniffer around the opposition goal and certainly a type of player we feel can do well with us.”
Youngsters Matty Hamilton, Jordan Flores, Josh Gregory and Sam Cosgrove have also travelled with the Wigan squad for the game against Ipswich.
