LATICS old boy Leighton Baines returned to haunt his old club once again with a late penalty in a thoroughly entertaining 2-2 draw at the DW.
The home side had taken the lead on 11 minutes when Arouna Kone bagged his third goal since his summer arrival from Levante from Jean Beausejour’s cross.
But Everton were level within a minutes when Steve Pienaar’s looped delivery to the far post was nodded home by Nikic Jelavic.
Latics were back in front by the interval when Kone’s pull-back was cracked home by Franco di Santo, back in the side after injury.
Despite creating some great chances to put the game to bed, though, Latics couldn’t quite finish off their visitors.
And they paid the penalty in the dying moments when Maynor Figueroa felled Kevin Miralles in the box and Baines made no mistake from the spot.
