FABULOUS Wigan took another step closer to Premier League survival with a fantastic victory over high-flying Newcastle.
Two goals within three minutes of each other from Victor Moses, followed by one from Shaun Maloney and a cracking 25-yard strike into the top corner by Franco di Santo ensured the game was over as a contest after 40 just minutes.
Latics were simply phenomenal and made Newcastle look like relegation candidates rather than themselves.
The second half was always going to be bland compared to the first amazing period - Roberto Martinez surely a happy man tonight.
Moses was sublime and James McCarthy and Maloney in the engine room were unstoppable.
Special mention too to skipper Gary Caldwell who was a rock at the back.
