WIGAN Athletic have confirmed the signing of Hull City’s Harry Maguire
The central defender trained with his new Latics teammates this morning (Tuesday) and his available to face Nottingham Forest tomorrow after joining on loan for a month.
The 21-year-old signed for Steve Bruce’s side last year but has struggled to break into the Premier League outfit.
Before his move to the East coast though, Maguire spent three years with Sheffield United where he made more than 130 appearances, scoring nine goals.
Wigan boss Malky Mackay said: “Harry’s come over this morning from Hull, and we’re delighted with that one.
“We need to thank Steve Bruce for that one, he’s a good friend of myself and the club.
“Harry’s a good, young, strong centre-back, who’s also quite experienced in terms of the amount of games he’s played for Hull and Sheffield United.
“He’s going to be a real positive for the club.
“We are losing Liam Ridgewell after tomorrow’s match and it was important we moved fast to replace him. Harry is someone I have admired for a long-time and I thank Steve for allowing him to continue his development with us.”
