LATICS today confirmed the exit of five first-team players.
Kim Bo-Kyung, Gaetan Bong, Ali Al Habsi, Marc-Antoine Fortuné and William Kvist were all out of contract and have been told they will be not be offered new deals for the League One campaign.
The news will not come as a surprise to fans, who must now wait to discover if six other off-contract players – first-teamers Jermaine Pennant and Emmerson Boyce, as well as youngsters Jordan Flores, Tim Chow, Matty Hamilton and Ryan Jennings – will extend their stays with the club.
Meanwhile, loan players Harry Maguire (Hull City), Chris Herd (Aston Villa), Sheyi Ojo (Liverpool), Leon Clarke (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Josh Murphy (Norwich City) and Jerome Sinclair (Liverpool) will all return to the parent clubs for the start of next season.
James Tavernier, Oriol Riera, Rob Kiernan and Andy Delort are all set to return to Latics from loan spells elsewhere for the start of pre-season training on June 25, unless they secure moves elsewhere in the meantime.
Latics academy graduates Adam Anson, Sam Cosgrove, Owen Evans, Liam Langford, Adrian Purzycki, Louis Robles have all been offered professional contracts. Development squad players Mayowa Balogun, Joey Johnson, Connor Keane, Declan Poole and Mike Wilson have been told their futures lie elsewhere.
Meanwhile, Juan Carlos Garcia remains under contract as he continues to make progress regarding his condition, diagnosed as a form of leukaemia.
