JAMES Perch has become Wigan Athletic’s fourth summer signing after joining from Newcastle United.
The 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year deal, and becomes Owen Coyle’s fourth summer signing after the captures of Chris McCann, Stephen Crainey and Thomas Rogne.
Perch, who can play in both defence and midfield, made 37 appearances last year for the Toon and will cost Latics in the region of £1million.
His versatility will be vital with Latics facing a 46-game domestic season as well as a first-ever European campaign.
Former England goalkeeper Scott Carson is also expected to join Latics in the next 24 hours, with several more signings expected over the coming weeks.
