Wigan Athletic youngster Jack Sanders admits he didn't need to think twice about joining AFC Fylde on loan - and a reunion with Nick Chadwick.

The 21-year-old centre-back has joined the Coasters until mid-January, after a chat with his former Development Squad boss, who moved to Fylde earlier this year.

“Nick is someone who I know very well and spent a lot of time with him last year at Wigan," said Sanders, who has yet to make his first-team debut for Latics.

"He was the man who brought me into Wigan, so I will be forever grateful to him for that.

"But this is completely different, this is a chance for me to impress.

"Fylde is a really exciting opportunity for me, you only have to look around at the facilities to get a good idea of where this club can get to.

"The way the club is going and the way it’s run, you can see that it’s going places – I want to be a part of that.”

Sanders has previously spent time out at Blyth and Southport, and is hoping a solid run of games at Fylde will help him take the next step with Latics.

“I think the experiences I have had coming up through non-league have helped me," he told Fylde's official website.

"For a young lad, I would say I have good experience of men’s football.

"If I’m honest, I tend to prefer playing in these types of games rather than the academy stuff, as I enjoy the physical side of it.

“The gaffer has reiterated several times about how well the group is playing at the minute, so it’s great to be coming to a team in form.

"The lads seem like a great bunch, with lots of players with experience in the football league, so if we can keep a lot of those players fit I’m sure it will be a push for promotion.

"That is one of the main reasons why I joined because I want to be a part of something special and get the club moving up.”
