Young Lachlan Tod is already proving to be a master on the golf course – despite being just five.

He has been impressing his family and friends with his trickshots.

And in his first competition since the lockdown at Formby Hall, he not only won, he set a new junior course record in the

process.

Dad Chris has been amazed at the way his son – a pupil at St Aidan’s Primary in Highfield – has taken to the sport since taking it up less than 18 months ago.

“He watched Tiger Woods win the Masters last year and asked me to buy him a club,” said Chris.

“Since then he’s not looked back. Some of the things he can do are incredible.

“I play off scratch and I didn’t think he would beat me – not for a long time – but he already has. He watches it a lot, and he sees things in golf swings that only a pro’ should see.”

Lachlan’s recent achievement saw him win the Junior Open at the Tommy Fleetwood Academy at Formby Hall.

“He was playing against kids of all ages,” added Chris. “He shot 28 for nine holes, to finish eight under par – which was a course record for a junior.”
