Jenny helps Commonwealth team to victory

Jenny Meadows helped a Commonwealth Select take the team prize at the Aviva Indoor International in Glasgow last Saturday.

The winning side collected a haul of 60 points, edging out the GB & NI Team with 57 in front of a sell-out 3,500 crowd.

Wigan Harrier Meadows, the British No.2, finished second in the 800m in 2:03.57, just behind her GB rival Marilyn Okoro who won in 2:02.53.

Germany were third with 51, USA fourth with 46 and Sweden fifth with 37.

Wigan Harriers sprinter Hayley Jones had to withdraw from the Great Britain team on the eve of the Glasgow event to give her more time to recover from a back injury.

The 20-year-old was in line to make her full GB debut in the 200m.
