A PUNCHING fire-fighter based in Wigan is set to relaunch his boxing career in Zambia.

Suz Member will travel to Africa this month for a promotional visit ahead of pulling on the gloves later in the year.

The invitation to return to the ring has come from Zambia Professional Boxing, and Member is excited about the challenge.

He said: “The offer came completely out of the blue.

“They got in contact through my website, and at first I did have reservations because I’m hardly Ricky Hatton or Amir Khan.

“But they told me that my profile fits in with what they want.

“I’ve checked it out, it’s a genuine offer, and things have snowballed from there.

“I’m flying out to Zambia on June 1 to do a week of promotional work.

“There’s a mentoring scheme I’m going to do – something which I’ve done in the community in Preston – and I’ll be visiting schools and clubs.

“While I’m there I’ll then enter into negotiations to get a professional licence to box in Zambia.”
