WIGAN Harriers athletes Jenny Meadows and Hayley Jones were today named in England’s squad for the Commonwealth Games.
Meadows, on the comeback trail after a lengthy injury lay-off, has been included in the 800m and Jones in the 100m relay squad.
They are among 129 athletes including Olympic champions Greg Rutherford and Mo Farah.
Last week, three Wigan wrestlers were included in the England squad - Michael Grundy, sister Sarah Grundy and Charlie Bowling.
Meadows is aiming to make up for lost time after three seasons disrupted by injury. Jones, a bronze medal winner at last year’s World Championships, took the Northern Senior 200m title in 23.66 at the weekend.
