OCTOBER traditionally marks the start of the winter pike fishing season.
Wigan angler Jon Neafcy, who runs the local Wigan region of the pike anglers club of Great Britain, went out fishing on October 1 despite a nasty hand injury and managed 5 pike. All of them weighed over 10 pounds, the best of which was a 21 pound specimen.
Neafcy’s region of the PAC GB meet the first Wednesday of each month between October and April in the upstairs function room of the Caledonian pub, 154 Bolton Road in Ashton from 8pm onwards when there is usually a talk given by an expert angler along with other events.
All are welcome.
