YOUNG people from Wigan are being given the chance to form a community team to represent the borough at a regional sport event.
Free sports sessions are on offer across the borough thanks to Wigan and Leigh Housing and Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust’s Sports Development Team.
Those who take part in the sessions will be given the chance to be a part of a community team who will represent the area at the North West StreetGames at Sportcity in Manchester on Friday, August 26.
Sports on offer include dodgeball, cricket, handball, rugby league and athletics.
The three week programme of taster sessions will conclude with the chance to compete against each other at a sports festival, held as part of Wigan and Leigh Housing’s Annual Tenants Conference, at Robin Park Arena on Friday, August 12. The sessions are open to young people aged eight years and over.
