WIGAN golf ace David Lynn burst into an early lead on the first day of the US Masters.

The Billinge-born European Tour pro completed his first nine holes in three under par to lead the field at the Augusta National Course.

A birdie on the first hole got the 39-year-old off to a flying start in his first appearance at the Masters, while birdies at the eighth and ninth followed.

David, who grew up in Swinley, qualified for the tournament after finishing runner-up in last years US PGA Championship.
