Wrestling coach Grundy takes home regional volunteer prize

Wigan and Leigh wrestling coach Dave Grundy has earned regional recognition by winning volunteer of the year at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards.

Grundy was recognised at the event, which took place at Old Trafford last Friday and was hosted by BBC North West Tonight presenter Roger Johnson.

Yvonne Harrison, Chief Executive of GreaterSport, organisers of the Greater Manchester Sports Awards, said: “GreaterSport are delighted to present these iconic awards to celebrate and recognise the champions who devote their lives to sport, day in, day out, making a huge impact  in their local communities”.

Grundy has now been invited to attend the BBC Sports Awards in Birmingham on December 18.
