Rachel's World Cup date

A Wiganer is among 16 British Paralympic swimmers, who between them brought home 29 medals from Beijing, to have confirmed they will compete in next month's BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester.

Rachel Latham will line up alongside double Paralympic gold medalist Eleanor Simmonds and 11-time Paralympic gold medalist David Roberts at the first international meet since the Paralympics last year.

Leigh's Heather Frederiksen, also in the squad, and Simmonds have since broken world records in the S8 and S6 400m freestyle respectively at the British Gas Swimming Championships in March.

The athletes will compete in five different classes over the Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday, and Tim Reddish OBE, chairman of ParalympicsGB and National Performance Director for British Disability Swimming, said: "They are all looking forward to racing and testing themselves against international competition."
