EDDY Pettybourne’s upcoming spell on the sidelines has not been lengthened by the RFL’s match review panel, despite it finding him guilty of a grade B dangerous tackle.

The offence, for which the USA international was placed on report in the 38th minute of the World Club Challenge defeat to Sydney Roosters after his tackle on Shaun Kenny-Dowall, carries a one or two-game ban. And because Pettybourne was eligible to make an early guilty plea, he will serve the lesser ban.

The ban is immaterial to the prop, though, who left the field in the second half with a bicep injury, for which the severity will not be known until it is scanned.

The former Wests Tigers heavyweight would have been rested for Sunday’s visit of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats anyway as Shaun Wane seeks to freshen-up his World Club Challenge squa. But Pettybourne may have to wait longer for a return to action if his injury proves to be serious.

Wakefield arrive at the DW Stadium on Sunday in search of their first win on the 2014 season having lost their opening two games.
