WARRIORS wing ace Josh Charnley though England were hard done by when Ryan Hall’s last-minute effort was chalked off against Australia.
The towering winger battled with Kangaroos’ fullback Greg Inglis for Liam Farrell’s kick into the in goal - and a score would have brought England level.
But video ref Bernard Sutton disallowed the try after several minutes deliberating, much to the disappointment of Charnley.
He said: “Hally got downward pressure so yeah, of course I would’ve been claiming it if I was him. It was a try.
“It’s disappointing. If that was in Super League that would’ve been given. It’s what they say at the end of the day, though.”
Charnley was one of six Wigan players to have played yesterday. Joel Tomkins, Liam Farrell, Sean O’Loughlin and Matty Smith also featured.
And it was a huge day for Dan Sarginson who replaced Michael Shenton for his international debut.
Charnley added: “Sarge has done well for Wigan all year and it’s great to see him get the nod on his debut. He didn’t let anyone down.”
England must now beat New Zealand by 10 or more points next week to reach the final.
