WIGAN Warriors have announced prop James Greenwood will play for London Broncos for the 2014 season.

The 22-year-old former Saddleworth Rangers amateur made his Wigan first team debut from the bench in last season’s 60-10 win over Leigh Centurions and appeared in the 34-33 loss to Hull FC last August.

It is envisaged Greenwood will return to the champions after a season of gaining experience under Tony Rea at the Broncos.

The young front rower has spent time on dual registration at Warriors partner club South Wales Scorpions.

Warriors boss Shaun Wane said: “This is a great opportunity for James to gain some experience at the highest level. It will give him the chance to play regularly in Super League with London and it will also offer him some stability off the field knowing he is with the Broncos for the whole year.

“This agreement for the 2014 campaign works well for both parties, the Broncos will get a determined young player who is keen to impress and he will come back to us in 2015 hopefully an even better player.”

Broncos head coach Tony Rea said: “We are excited to welcome James to the capital. He is a powerful player who has developed a real presence on the field. It is a terrific move for all concerned.”
