SHAUN Wane has every faith in one of his young flyers making the left wing spot their own in 2014.
The Warriors coach insists he never looked at seeking a replacement for Pat Richards.
England wingers Tom Burgess and Ryan Hall are among those who have been linked with the club in other quarters.
But Wane believes academy products Joe Burgess and Dom Manfredi are ready to press their claims for regular action – while Kiwi Anthony Gelling is also in the mix.
He said: “I absolutely never even considered getting someone in. I didn’t look at anyone.
“I’m confident one of the three players we’ve already got will give us something special.
“I’m really confident in the two kids, and Gells has shown in flashes what he can do.”
Though Gelling, 23, has been handed the No.5 shirt, Wane again stressed the race to start the season in the left wing spot is wide open.
All will be given chances during the friendly matches next month, against Leigh (19th), Workington (26th) and St Helens (30th).
Burgess, a towering winger, figured twice last season while Manfredi also made his Super League debut in 2013.
Wane says they have been flying during pre-season training and will
“Joe put 10 kg on since he’s joined us, and Dom has really impressed me,” added Wane. “They’re different styles of wingers, but I like them both.”
