SEAN O’Loughlin hailed Wigan’s display as their most clinical of the season as they crushed Huddersfield 57-4 – and march to within 80 minutes of a Grand Final.
An emphatic performance produced 10 tries and sent a loud and clear message to their rivals that they are well-equipped to defend their Super League title.
O’Loughlin said: “It was probably the most clinical we’ve been this year. I don’t want to get carried away because Huddersfield were way off their best, but it still came down to us performing.
“Even when they scored a try in the second half, they could have got back into it and made a fight of it – but we flicked the switch again, we were really clinical on the edges and we scored some great tries.
“We were confident coming into the game, but we weren’t expecting a result like that.” Wigan now have next weekend off before returning for a home semi-final in two weeks. If St Helens lose to Castleford tonight, the Warriors will get the dubious advantage of ClubCall in which they pick their semi-final opponents from the week two winners.
“It’s nice to have the weekend off, not so much to rest-up because we’ll still be training, but more to make sure bruises can heal and everyone’s ready for the semi-final,” added O’Loughlin.
