THERE is more than two months to go to the start of the new Super League season but Shaun Wane has seen enough from London recruits Tony Clubb and Dan Sarginson to convince him they will strengthen the team.
Broncos duo Clubb and Sarginson are well into pre-season training with the club’s other non-internationals.
And Wane has been thrilled with the way they have slotted into the squad.
He said: “No matter how confident you are in the signings you make, there’s always that question mark until you’ve seen them in training and seen how they apply themselves.
“Dan and Tony have both done really well.
“They’ve obviously worked hard on their fitness in the off-season and they’ve come here willing to learn.
“We do things a little differently at Wigan and sometimes it can be a shock, but they’ve all done really well.”
Outside back Sarginson will push for a centre spot next season, while Clubb will strengthen competition among the back-rowers.
Sam Hopkins (Leigh) and John Bateman (Bradford) are also in training, though the latter is recovering from an ankle injury.
Stand-off Blake Green joined the squad this week after returning from Australia.
Meanwhile, Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan hopes to reveal details this week of a friendly fixture Down Under ahead of the World Club Challenge in Sydney on February 22.
