NEW Zealand Warriors Assistant coach Andrew McFadden has all but confirmed Sam Tomkins is set to join the NRL outfit for next season.
In an interview with Radio Sport New Zealand, McFadden revealed he expected Tomkins to be touching base with his new club by Christmas after the reigning Man of Steel had completed his World Cup duties for England.
When asked when he was expecting the NRL club’s new arrivals, McFadden said: “They will be coming at separate times. We won’t get Tomkins ‘til after Christmas, which isn’t ideal but every team has to deal with that.”
“We have to deal with it more than most given our representation in the islands (during the World Cup.)”
When asked to confirm if the Wigan full-back would be heading to the Southern Hemisphere for next season, McFadden said: “I’m guessing he’s gonna be here just like you.”
