WARRIORS captain Sean O’Loughlin will miss England’s World Cup opener against Australia on Saturday.
O’Loughlin was rested for the warm-up defeat to Italy last weekend, with the loose forward having only played in the Challenge Cup and Grand Finals since August 2 as he recovers from an Achillies injury.
Four Warriors have been selected in Steve McNamara’s squad, with Wigan forward Liam Farrell set to be handed his full international debut if he makes the final 17.
Farrell is joined by Josh Charnley, Lee Mossop and Sam Tomkins.
George and Thomas Burgess alongside Huddersfield Giants forward Brett Ferres, who was drafted into the squad as a replacement for the dismissed Gareth Hock could also all earn their first England caps.
England coach Steve McNamara said: “The players have trained well all week and we are ready to take on Australia.”
“We have healthy competition for places across all areas. The players are aware of this and continue to put in the effort in training to make sure they are prepared and ready for what should be a thrilling game.”
Forwards Micheal McIlorum of Wigan Warriors and Canterbury Bulldogs’ James Graham are noteable absentees from the squad.
