BEN Flower is facing a ban of eight games or more after being charged with a Grade F offence for punching Lance Hohaia in the Grand Final.

Such a charge relates to “violent and aggressive punching/ punching an off-guard opponent” on the Saints half-back. He could also spend a specific amount of time on the sidelines rather than a specific number of games.

The incident in the second minute sent shockwaves across the sport with Flower striking Hohaia twice, once while he was on the floor.

The Saints player is also facing the lesser Grade B charge for striking the Wigan prop with his forearm in the build up.

Flower does not have the option of submitting an early guilty plea and will appear before an independent disciplinary tribunal in Leeds tomorrow evening.

Hohaia does have that option though and has until 11am tomorrow to make his plea.

Earlier today it was revealed that Greater Manchester Police are now involved and are set to talk to St Helens and Hohaia about pressing charges against Flower.
