PAT Richards knows there is work to do ahead of Wigan’s trip to Perpignan on Saturday but has confidence the Warriors will recapture their form.

The Australian winger insists Wigan didn’t underestimate Huddersfield in their 30-12 win over Wigan to go top last Friday and says the loss was not down to absent superstars such as Sam Tomkins and Sean O’Loughlin.

“Huddersfield are top of the table for a reason,” said Richards.

“They have played some good rugby league this season and they have some good quality players .”

Ahead of facing Catlans Dragons, Richards continued: “We have to work on our game and not worry about the opposition too much.

“We all know the jobs we have to do and we play our way and everyone knows the system.

“We have confidence in every member of the team and although the players who are missing are internationals we wouldn’t use the as an excuse.”

Shaun Wane has confirmed that Cook Islands international Anthony Gelling has signed a contract extension to stay at Wigan until the end of 2014.
