STAND-IN skipper Sam Tomkins has backed Sam Powell to shine when he is thrust onto the big stage tonight.
Teenage stand-off Powell is set to be handed a first-team debut in front of the Sky Sports cameras and a bumper crowd when Warriors face Hull FC.
And Tomkins said: “Sam’s impressed me in training, He has to work hard because he’s not the most dynamic player but he’s smart, he has a good passing game, and he deserves a shot.”
Powell will partner recent signing Matty Smith in the key halfback positions. Full-back Tomkins added: “I would be worried if we had two players who weren’t up to it, but Matty and Sam are capable of putting in good performances.
“I’m happy with them as our halves any day of the week.”
