WIGAN and Leeds will wear special kts with the Superman logo in Thursday’s final regular season Super League game against Leeds Rhinos.
The specially designed shirt, which is sure to become a collector’s item, replicates the Man of Steel costume as worn by Superman in the new film, which is out on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD and the Sky Movies Store from December 22. The steel grey textured front features the famous Superman ‘S’ on the chest and the red back takes inspiration from Superman’s synonymous cape.
It follows a similar link-up earlier this year in the NRL which saw Melbourne Storm wear a special Superman kit.
Wigan’s shirt sponsor, Applicado, recently seized to exist - they wore a kit sponsored by DW Sports Fitness in their Challenge Cup Final at Wembley, and will have a different sponsor tonight.
The very limited edition shirts will be available to pre-order on Saturday morning from 9am from Warriors World in the Grand Arcade and online at www.wiganwarriors.com priced at £47 for adults (XS-5XL) and £35 for junior sizes (6, 8, 10, 12, 14 & 16 years). Due to the limited number of shirts there will be no babies or women’s fit shirts on this occasion.
The club says the shirts have been produced at an incredibly short notice and are due to arrive in readiness for the game on Thursday; however, due to potential delays with air freight and customs the club may only be able to make them available for collection before the game and may not be able to post shirts for arrival before Thursday.
