Shaun Wane has ruled out recruiting new players to ease Wigan’s injury crisis.

A dozen ‘starters’ missed Friday’s 31-16 loss to Salford.

And since then it has emerged Anthony Gelling and Morgan Escare may be out for the rest of the season – joining Ben Flower, Tony Clubb and Dom Manfredi as long-term casualties.

Wane will use this testing time to accelerate the development of his young players.

Asked was he looking to bring in reinforcements, he said: “No. We’ve got players, we’ll be okay. We’re proud of our youth structure and our young players will get a chance.

“All our players will be better because of what we’re going through.”

Sean O’Loughlin and Micky McIlorum come back into the frame for Sunday’s Challenge Cup game at Swinton.

George Williams and Sam Powell are close to returns, with John Bateman, Sam Tomkins, Oliver Gildart and Thomas Leuluai to be drip-fed back into the side over the next few weeks.

“The bad luck we’ve had can’t carry on, something will go our way,” said Wane.
