WIGAN swept into the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup with a hard-fought 18-4 win against St Helens.
Shaun Wane’s side came from behind to register three tries by Sam Tomkins, Sean O’Loughlin and Brett Finch to secure the derby bragging rights.
The game was littered with errors from both sides, but that will not bother Wigan’s supporters as they saw their team edge to within 80 minutes of a return to Wembley.
Leeds have already booked their place in the last four, following their win at Leigh on Friday night.
Challenge Cup holders Wigan were far from at their vintage best in this DW encounter but encouragingly, they kept Saints score-less for 75 minutes following Paul Wellens’ opener, and thoroughly deserved the victory in front of 12,864.
Warriors, who lost Epa Lauaki to a head-knock during the opening half, will discover on Sunday evening who they will meet in the next round.
