WIGAN Warriors have today announced that England Internationals Josh Charnley, Sean O’Loughlin and Michael McIlorum have all signed new long-term contracts.
Super League’s 2012 top try-scorer Charnley has agreed a new four- year deal with improved terms for 2013 and 2014 and an extension for a further two years.
Skipper O’Loughlin has signed a new two-year deal for seasons 2013 and 2014 with a further one year option in the club’s favour which also includes a move into Warriors backroom staff in a similar way to that followed by Paul Deacon so successfully recently.
Hooker Michael McIlorum has agreed a three-Year contract.
Wigan owner and chairman, Ian Lenagan, said: “I am delighted that Josh, Sean an Michael have committed their long-term futures to Wigan and I am sure this news will be welcomed by all our supporters.
“Josh is one of the most exciting players in our game and, although he still had another two years on his contract to run, we were keen to reward him financially whilst securing him for a further two years. Josh has flourished over the last couple of seasons and we know he will continue to improve and develop into one of the game’s top wingers.
“Sean has been a wonderful player for this club. As captain, he is a great figurehead within the squad and is a natural leader who everyone respects. In this day and age, it is very rare for a player to play for the whole of his career with his hometown team and we are pleased to reward his loyalty with the guaranteed opportunity to join the Wigan backroom staff when his playing days come to an end.
“Michael meanwhile, has been one of the stand-out hookers of the competition and his form has quite rightly merited England selection once more. We are confident that under Shaun Wane he will continue to improve as a player.”
