WIGAN Warriors will be on the road for their Challenge Cup sixth round clash against Hull KR.

The home fixture, on Friday May 15, is being taken across town to Leigh Sports Village due to pitch maintenance at the DW Stadium.

Chairman Ian Lenagan said: ”The annual work to the DW Stadium pitch is planned to start the week of the Challenge Cup sixth round and for that reason we have had to seek an alternative venue for this game.

“In previous years the stadium management and groundsmen have been able to reduce the amount of repair work to accommodate cup games at the start or end of their schedule.

“Unfortunately, as we witnessed earlier this year, the condition of the pitch deteriorated rapidly in February and requires major renovation in order to help prevent this happening in future years. We understand that the full amount of time must be given for the groundsmen to carry out this crucial work.”

The match is one of three all Super League Challenge Cup round six ties. The winners will progress to the quarter final stage,
